WHITE LADY

Prunus persica 'White Lady'

About the Variety: White Lady is a white-fleshed peach known for its low acidity and very sweet, mild flavor. White-fleshed peaches have grown in popularity for their dessert-like sweetness, and White Lady is one of the more widely available named varieties suited to home and community orchards.

Fruit Description: Medium to large semi-freestone peaches with a red blush over a creamy white background. Flesh is white, low-acid, and very sweet with a delicate, almost floral flavor. Softer texture than yellow-fleshed peaches.

Harvest Window for Cincinnati/Southern Ohio: Mid to Late August

Ripeness Indicators:

  • Background color shifts to creamy white

  • Red blush deepens

  • Fruit softens noticeably and yields to gentle pressure

  • Sweet aroma, use promptly once ripe

Disease Resistance:

  • Moderate, similar to most standard peaches

  • No special resistance package

Best Uses:

  • Fresh eating: exceptional, the low acid and high sugar appeal strongly to children and people who find yellow peaches too tart

  • Not ideal for: baking or canning, since low acidity means less classic "peach" tang

How to Share This Fruit: White Lady is your kid-magnet peach. Use it for family and school events where the very sweet, mild flavor wins over picky eaters who find regular peaches too tart. Good for side-by-side tastings against a yellow peach like Redhaven to teach the white-flesh versus yellow-flesh distinction.
